Former Arsenal Manager Arsène Wenger enjoyed a lovely 50 minute private chauffeured tour with us on Saturday 2nd June 2018 with his family.
The Frenchman surprised the Let’s Go Punting Team at our check-in desk on the Quayside roughly at 2.15PM with his family and they all enjoyed their relaxing trip down the River Cam until 3.05PM.
Trevor, our Punting Manager, Oli, one of our best Touts and Zsofi, our Business Administrator welcomed the 68-year-old who was extremely friendly with everyone on the riverside. Due to Saturdays being one of our busiest days, there were large groups of tourists and hen parties on the Quayside who asked Mr Wenger to take photos with them as well as shaking his hand and talking to him constantly.
During his tour, most of the other people punting on the river recognised the famous Ex-Arsenal Boss and took thousands of photographs of him and his family. Although the River Cam went a little bit crazy, Mr Wenger looked relaxed and happy while enjoying his river trip and he always had something nice to say to everyone around.
According to our chauffer, James, Wenger asked a lot of questions about his punt chauffeur job role and about the historical sights of Cambridge.
“He was laughing a lot. I hope he was laughing at my jokes and not at me” – said James, who was sparkling all day after his special tour.
