Operations Duty Manager – We are looking for a new operations manager at Quayside for 2019. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to expand on their management experience and lead a team of 30  employees in one of Cambridge’s most iconic industries. Full details below. Location: Quayside, Cambridge (CB5 8AB)

Duration: Permanent , full time including Weekends and Bank Holidays.

Salary: £30,000 per annum plus commision for exceeding targets.

Start Date: February – March 2019.

Duration: Full-time (5 days a week, including weekends and bank holidays)

Holiday: 36 days per annum (28 days standard holiday pay plus 8 days to be taken on weekdays during high summer {June-August} as agreed by Directors).

We need you to fulfill some / all of the following criteria:

  • Previous “customer facing” work experience is essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential. (English should be a first or second language – other language skills are a plus.)
  • Literacy / Numeracy & Computing skills are essential.
  • Applicants will be confident and able to build a strong team mentality and sustain a “feel good factor” among our staff for sustained periods.
  • A highly motivated individual with a can-do attitude who is both physically active and enjoys working outdoors.
  • Ability to work under time pressure, in stressful situations & be able to demonstrate excellent problem solving skills.

The Job Role and Responsibilities:

You will manage a team of up to 30 employees. Successful applicants will take an active role in the following:

  • Providing first class customer service. Delivery of an efficient, high quality service to our customers and implementation of all management initiatives.
  • Ensuring that tours are scheduled to maximise business efficiency and depart on time – primarily the Cashier’s role but will need to be closely monitored at all times.
  • Achieving effective and courteous ticket sales by monitoring a sales rotation system and managing the touts on a daily basis.
  • Provide staff support and training as and when required.
  • Managing staff and assisting in the weekly staff rota.
  • Be responsible for  all equipment (boats, poles, cushions, blankets, umbrellas etc.) and ensure that they are handled with care, stored correctly and are at all times in good working condition.
  • Maintaining a safe & effective working environment.

We are now looking for permanent and temporary Punt Chauffeurs to work for Let’s Go Punting for the 2019 season.

If you are articulate, hard working, energetic and generally of a positive outlook then perhaps you would enjoy a season of punting along the college ‘Backs’. Although not essential languages would be considered to be an advantage and you will need to be physically able to punt as much as 10 miles in a day (on the busiest days). Whilst doing that you will need to brush up on your history because you will be expected to deliver a entertaining spiel regaling tales of alumni, architecture and the academic history of the jewel in Cambridge’s crown….the University! Daunted? Don’t be, training will be provided which will bring your punting skills up to scratch in no time and your customer service will improve with every tour.
